Why I became an Admission and Appeals Consultant

I haselfieve always enjoyed working in education administration especially the area of Admissions and Appeals, and have built up a wealth of experience over the past 17 years.   The Admission and Appeal process can be complicated and the need to keep up with the latest legislation and looking at the bigger picture is vital. School Management Teams (SMT) already have their hands full trying to ensure that children in their school are safe and meeting their full potential etc. By building up an extensive knowledge I was able to fully support the SMTs in the Multi Academy Trust where I worked, which saved them time and resources.

Becoming an Academy is another complicated area and some parts of the admission and appeals process and general education administration can often be forgotten, because this was previously dealt with by the local authority.

By leaving the MAT and setting up as a consult, I can now able to share this knowledge with other schools.      My aim is to support schools with guidance and training in School Admissions and Appeals procedures, which will ensure that they are fully aware of the importance of the whole process, and give them the confidence and know-how to find information for themselves in the future.
